Multi-Procedure Dental Visits Save Time And Hassle

Multi-Procedure Dental Visits in Las VegasIf you are planning extensive cosmetic dental work at Summer Dental in Las Vegas, you may be wondering whether to do it all at once or one procedure at a time over an extended period. Here are some factors to look at:

Cost
In the long run, it is less pricey to do it all at once. At Summer Dental, we are able to complete several procedures in one visit. We know that complete smile transformations are a significant investment.

Time
With the latest materials and unprecedented cosmetic dental techniques, healing is faster than in the past. However, some procedures may require a healing period.

It is easier physically and psychologically to have the fewest possible visits to the dentist. You should also consider how your dental visits and necessary healing periods will affect your employment and family life. You will have less down time if you receive several procedures at once.

Aesthetic Results
While we routinely achieve great outcomes when doing a smile makeover in steps, multiple porcelain restorations are best fabricated in the same “batch” for the most precise color matching.

Sedation Dentistry
When you come in for a smile analysis, we can discuss sedation dentistry. Many dental patients benefit from this safe and effective solution for pain and anxiety management.

At Summer Dental in Las Vegas, cosmetic dentistry can transform your smile. Schedule a consultation with us and we’ll devleop a plan that works best for you. Schedule your next cleaning and checkup with us today.

Not Too Late To Get Them Straight

North Las Vegas cosmetic dental and adult braces

Are you an adult with misaligned teeth? Do you regret not having orthodontic treatment when you were younger? It’s not too late to straighten your teeth, and with clear braces from Summer Dental in Las Vegas, you can do it discreetly.

Clear braces produce excellent results in many patients. Unlike traditional braces, there are no wires or brackets or rubber bands. Even better, they are almost undetectable to people who are standing just a few feet away from you.

Clear braces are so undetectable, in fact, that some people call them invisible. Of course, they are not invisible – but they’re really close.

They look a lot like an athlete’s mouth guard. The proper term for such braces is “aligner.” They are made of clear plastic and are worn over your teeth to gradually bring them into alignment.

One of the things that people like best about clear braces is that they are removable. You can take them out at mealtime, and when you brush your teeth at night. You should wear them while you sleep, however. For the best results it’s recommended they be worn for at least twenty-two hours each day.

Clear braces are a great choice for adults who didn’t have braces when they were younger, but don’t want to wear traditional braces at work. They are not for everyone, however. They are not good for patients who, for example, have severely rotated teeth.

To find out if clear braces are right for you, schedule a consultation with Summer Dental in Las Vegas. We have clear braces from Invisalign. We also provide a full range of cosmetic dentistry. Make an appointment with us today.

Improving Smiles with Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is really coming into its own. Trend-watchers say that more and more people are choosing it every day to improve their smiles, with the procedures that are available at Summer Dental in Las Vegas.

We all want to look our best. But cosmetic dentistry isn’t just about vanity; it is also good for your dental health. For example, straight teeth in the correct position are easier to care for, and make for a healthier mouth. That probably explains why clear braces are among the most popular cosmetic dentistry options; they can straighten your teeth, and are almost undetectable as you wear them.

Clear braces are not, of course, the only cosmetic dentistry option. Teeth whitening is one of the most popular procedures out there. A lot of people try to get whiter teeth at home, and there is a nearly bewildering selection of over-the-counter whitening products on the market. But none of them – not toothpastes, strips, or gels – can match the power of professional-grade teeth whitening.

Also in demand are porcelain veneers. They can completely transform the appearance of your smile, and like other cosmetic dentistry, are minimally invasive. A thin layer of tooth enamel is removed before veneers are permanently attached to your teeth. After that, you’ve got a mega-watt smile.

These and other cosmetic dentistry procedures can be completed without any pain at all. So if you’re looking to upgrade your smile, or simply restore integrity to yellowed or damaged teeth, call us at Summer Dental in Las Vegas to set up and appointment. We also offer pediatric dentistry. Call today!

5 Smile Makeover Questions

How Much Does A Smile Makeover Cost In Las Vegas

If you are considering multi-procedure cosmetic dentistry, here are four things the team at Summer Dental in Las Vegas suggests yo ask about:

All At Once Or Over Time?
At Summer Dental, our smile makeover patients often ask for several (or all) procedures in one visit. It all depends on the specific treatments needed to achieve your perfect smile. We develop a unique treatment plan for each patient after an extensive consultation and examination.

Oral Sedation?
Many cosmetic dental patients benefit from sleep dentistry. Conscious sedation is especially useful for procedures such as multiple wisdom teeth extractions and dental implant placement.

Cost?
We know that cosmetic dentistry is a substantial investment for most Las Vegas dental patients. Some services are covered by dental plans, so if you have dental insurance, be sure to find out exactly what is covered. Many residents use flex spending accounts for dental work and reap the tax advantages.

Healing Time?
With the latest materials and cosmetic dental techniques, healing times are often minimal. However, some procedures such as bone grafting, soft tissue grafting, root canals, and dental implants often require a short healing period. Consider how the timing of your dental visits and the required healing periods will affect your job and family responsibilities.

Do You Love Your Smile?

Las Vegas Cosmetic DentistryThe people who are happiest with their smiles have healthy, straight teeth that sparkle when they laugh. Most perfect smiles you see were not always that way. They are the result of cosmetic dentistry performed by an experienced aesthetic dentist, like the team at Summer Dental in Las Vegas.

At Summer Dental we provide state-of-the-art procedures that deliver dazzling, flawless teeth for our patients. We treat people of all ages; you are never too young or too old to improve your smile!

Two common smile problems are yellow enamel and chipped teeth.

Discolored Teeth

Few Las Vegas people have pearly white smiles that stay that way forever. Even with consistent brushing, flossing and regular dental cleanings, our teeth darken as we age. Fortunately, the most affordable Las Vegas cosmetic dentistry procedure is tooth bleaching. Picture yourself with a celebrity-caliber smile. It is possible with safe and affordable teeth whitening.

Damaged Teeth

Our teeth work hard for us day after day, year after year. Sometimes they get chipped or cracked in the process. If you would like to fix your tooth flaws, schedule a consultation with us. We use porcelain veneers every day to remedy tooth trauma. Cosmetic bonding has been used with fabulous results for many years and bonding is usually a fraction of the price of a crown.

At Summer Dental in Las Vegas we provide cosmetic dentistry, and have a team of in-house specialists to deliver the best possible care. Schedule your next appointment with us today.

7 Steps For A Healthy Smile

Las Vegas Extreme Smile Makeover

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

Benjamin Franklin coined this phrase in the 1730s, as advice for fire safety. However, like all timeless quotes, it applies to many more features of modern life. At Summer Dental in Las Vegas, we apply it to dental health.

Keeping your smile beautiful and healthy is done most effectively with preventative measures. Some vital guidelines are highlighted here.

1. Make a habit of brushing your teeth. Do it twice a day for 2 minutes. Be sure to use an ADA approved toothpaste and toothbrush.

2. Don’t forget the floss! Flossing between your teeth daily will do wonders for your teeth and keep your gums healthy too.

3. Wear a protective mouthguard when engaging in an activity where your mouth could possibly be damaged.

4. Don’t smoke. As if you needed yet another reason not to!

5. Abstain from piercing your lips, tongue, cheek, or any other part of your mouth that someone decided you should shove a metal bar through. Piercings put you at greater risk for chipped teeth, infection and nerve damage. It’s a dicey fashion that you’ll want to avoid.

6. Refrain from snacks that have a lot of sugar or starch.

7. Schedule regular dental visits, of course!

At Summer Dental in Las Vegas, helping our patients establish good habits is important. We provide general and cosmetic dentistry, and evening and weekend hours that fit any busy schedule.

Soft, Medium, Or Buzz Lightyear?

Affordable Dentistry in Las VegasAt Summer Dental in Las Vegas, our dentists are often asked how to choose the most basic tool of oral hygiene, the toothbrush. Picking a toothbrush can be as challenging as choosing a paint color, and there seems to be just as many choices.

If you have visited the dental section of the grocery store lately, you know what we’re talking about. There are brushes with bristles of varying lengths, brushes that massage your gums, and brushes that change color when they are used up. (If we had to rate them purely on their fun factor, we would choose the Spiderman brush.)

Some toothbrush manufacturers claim their brushes freshen your breath or remove stains from your teeth. How do you choose the best one?

One important factor is the firmness of the bristles. Hard bristles may be more effective for cleaning burnt steak off a grill or hard water deposits off a shower floor. However, this does not hold true for your teeth. Medium and firm brushes can harm your gums. Soft and extra-soft bristles are plenty stiff enough to clean plaque, food particles, and surface stains from your teeth. Soft bristles also offer more flexibility for hard-to-reach nooks and crannies.

After having dental work or oral surgery, especially anything involving soft tissue grafts, make sure that you use an extra-soft brush and be careful!

When deciding on a toothbrush for a child, make sure the brush feels comfortable in his or her hand. If the size and angle feel awkward, the child will be less likely to use it long enough to clean all areas of the mouth. Children do not necessarily need a child-sized toothbrush. Some kids can manage an adult size brush better than a short, narrow child-size brush. If you are unsure, ask your dentist.

What about the electric types and water-shooters? Some individuals like the feeling of pulsing bristles or a mini-squirt gun shooting away at the plaque. People with arthritis or other movement-inhibiting conditions can benefit from powered brushes which take some strain off hands and arm muscles.

At Summer Dental in Las Vegas, we provide general and cosmetic dentistry, and pediatric dentistry. Make an appointment with us today.

Preventing Tooth Decay

Preventing Tooth Decay in NevadaIn Las Vegas and all over the country, tooth decay is one of the most pervasive dental issues. It isn’t limited to kids, either; it also affects adults. A home dental health routine and regular checkups at Summer Dental is your best bet in heading off cavities.

Blame it on Bacteria

Tooth decay is caused by bacteria. Bacteria live in your mouth and combine with plaque and acids to erode the enamel coating on your teeth. The breakdown of your tooth enamel can often result in the development of small holes in your teeth which are known as cavities.

Lifestyle Factors

Tooth decay is typically a result of diet and oral hygiene choices. When sticky foods are consumed and allowed to sit on the teeth, or foods full of sugars and starches are consumed  throughout the day, dental caries can arise. Foods to forgo include soda and sugary chewing gum; these foods tend to create an environment where bacteria thrive.

To help prohibit tooth decay, simply limit sugary and starchy foods between meals. Also, brushing at least twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, flossing at least once a day, and visiting us at Summer Dental for regular check-ups and cleanings will help prevent tooth decay. We also provide general and cosmetic dentistry. Make an appointment today.

Tooth Restoration: Dental Implants and Bridges

Las Vegas Dental Implants and Dental BridgesTooth replacement is a highly requested procedure at Summer Dental. When our patients ask about tooth restoration, we usually tell them about fixed (or traditional) dental bridges and tooth implants.

A dental bridge is an artificial tooth which replaces a missing tooth. The false tooth—called a pontic—is fused to porcelain crowns on either side of the missing tooth.

Tooth Implants Replace the Root and Crown

Dental implants are also popular and are often a superior choice. A dental implant consists of a titanium post surgically inserted into the jaw bone to replace the root of the missing tooth. The post integrates with the bone to provide a sturdy foundation for the replacement tooth.

After it has bonded with the bone (it usually takes three to six months), a smaller post is attached. This post extends above the gum line. The artificial tooth (crown) is then affixed. The entire process takes several months, but consistently yields fantastic results.

Preserving Facial Contour

Both of these tooth replacements maintain or restore facial contour and permit you to talk and eat normally. Tooth replacements prevent adjoining teeth from gradually shifting and can help correct bite troubles, as well.

Dental implants and bridges can replace one or more missing teeth. Many individuals have been treated successfully with these tooth restoration procedures.
